My third day went very well. I had a great conversation with Professor Snook, and he gave a lot of rich information and thorough answers to my questions. A lot of the things he said had a similar theme as my other interviews. The listeners will hear this theme repeated, letting them know this point is very important and something to work on. After my interview with Professor Snook, I went through my interviews with Brad Stevens and Marc Shapiro to identify the key points and the main themes which will help me when editing the podcasts and with future interviews. I have a meeting scheduled for Friday with someone who works with Jim Collins, so I did some research on him, and hopefully, I can interview him. I also met with Dan Moulthrop to discuss editing. He gave me some good ideas, so I was able to start editing my podcast and start putting together the parts I needed. I drafted my introduction and edited down the audio for my interview with Brad, so the main thing I need now is a name for my podcast.

On day four, I focused on researching Jim Collins and learning a lot about his teaching and philosophy. I also finished my introduction and background, recorded a draft, and started putting my first podcast together. I added some music to it, and I like how it flows right now. Once I have a name, which will hopefully be tonight, I will rerecord the intro and send it to Mr. Moulthrop to receive some edits. I had a good meeting with the person who works for Jim Collins, and hopefully, I will be able to hear back from them soon. I was also able to schedule a time next week to interview Jaime Irick, the president of PPG Industries. I am still trying to find a few more people to interview, but now I can focus more on editing the podcasts.

  1. Ryan, I loved reading about your first week of Hawken Projects! Have you thought of a name for your podcast yet? How do you decide on a name for a podcast? You mentioned in your blog posts that there have been common themes about leadership that have emerged from your podcasts. I'm curious to hear more about these themes. I think it's great that you are watching other interviews online before you conduct your interviews. I bet that this can be more helpful, and in some ways more dynamic than just reading information about your interviewees online. I'm glad that you persevered to find more leaders to interview. I bet this part of the process has been like taking photographs. You have to take hundreds of photos to get a good one, and in your case, you have to send lots of emails to receive one, "yes." Keep up the wonderful work, Ryan!
