Final Reflection

I am very happy with the podcasts I was able to create. I was able to cultivate a series to release to the public with new and very useful information on leadership that anyone, no matter what age, can learn from. When brainstorming this project, there was not much more I wanted to include than what I did besides the guests I interviewed. On my initial list of guests, there were a lot of big names that I did not end up being able to talk to them, but the people I did talk to were really amazing. They all have different backgrounds, but they still think about leadership every day and have their ideas of what leaders are. I was engaged until the last few days because I always had interviews, and I wanted to make sure they went well, and I knew what I was talking about, but towards the end, it was just me editing the podcasts the whole time. Thursday was an editing day. It definitely was one of my hardest days because I have listened to these interviews so many times, it is hard to focus while editing them. I started with the interview with Dr. Shankman. I was able to remove the high pitch noise after trying many different effects, but then it made the audio sound different, so I had to try to make it sound more natural. I then went to the part I had to record with my phone, and my part sounded good, but hers sounded like she was on the phone. I first removed the hissing from the computer, and I am still trying to make her part sound better. I then went on to edit my conversation with Professor Snook. The other day, I attempted many times to get an intro, background, and outro I liked, but I decided I was not happy with it, so I re-recorded it. I also made some edits to the Jaime Irick interview. I am close to getting the audio from the Amy Latimer interview, which is good because I haven’t gotten to listen to the recordin...

On Wednesday, I worked on my questions for Dr. Shankman and finished them up. I then recorded my Scott Snook intro and outro, so I could start finalizing the edits. It probably took me 15 tries to get the one I liked. The fifteenth one is definitely the hardest because you have to still sound enthusiastic and genuine. After that, I had my interview with Dr. Shankman, which went as well as I could have asked for, considering all of the issues I had. My computer told me it was low on storage and said there might be issues saving the recording, so I quickly tried to delete things while on the call and then tried recording. Halfway through, the recording stopped because it said there was no storage left, so I had to record on my phone. There was also a high pitch noise once in a while, which I will have to edit out. Over the weekend, I was able to complete my episode with Mark Shapiro. I also had a phone call with Marcy Levy Shankman, who is a consultant and works with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to help develop leadership. We set up a time to meet on Wednesday. She also gave me some people whom I could reach out to. Tuesday, I started my day researching Dr. Shankman. I listened to a podcast Dr. Shankman was on and read a research paper she wrote about emotionally intelligent leadership. It is a new view of leadership, which I am excited to learn about. I then, last minute, decided it would be best to publish my podcast today because of the inauguration happen tomorrow. I thought it would be hard to post about it the day of or the day after because it would not get attention. I listened to the podcast again and decided I wanted to rerecord the ending, so I quickly did that and then got the podcast out as soon as possible. On Thursday, I had my interview with Jaime Irick. It was good and unique, adding a new perspective to my podcast. After the interview, I started setting up a platform to help with distribution. There were a lot of great free ones to choose from, so I had to research which one to use. I decided to use Sounder. I put in all of the info I needed and then started submitting my podcast to different platforms. Right now, it’s on Tune In, and I am waiting for Apple Podcasts and Spotify to approve it. I then started editing my interview with Jaime and did a little with my interview with Mark. I reached out to some local people to see if they would come on my podcast. I also asked if they knew anyone that I could talk to. Hopefully, HOBY will have some connections. On Friday, I wrote my speaking parts for the Scott Snook and Jaime Irick episodes. I also tried recording a new trailer for my podcast, which I like better. I uploaded it, and it will be the first thing people see on my podcast. I wa...

 On Tuesday, I started off the day meeting with Jaime Irick to discuss our interview that is scheduled for Thursday. I then made all of the fixes to my podcast draft and was able to make a basically finished version of it. I then started working on the covert art. There were many ways I could do it, but I decided to use Canva, which I had used in class before. For this, Canva was much better to use than Photoshop because there were templates to edit, and if I tried making mine from scratch, it would make the process even harder. I created a few different ones, so I had options to pick from and could see what my family liked best because they’re my test group. On Wednesday, I sent the podcast draft and questions to the person that works for Jim Collins because she requested it. I then had a check-in with Mrs. Mullen and Mr. Moulthrop about my project. Over the weekend, I was able to start editing down some of my other podcasts. Editing involves trimming out long pauses, deleting unnecessary words, and extra content that I do not need. Once I do this, all I need to add are the intro, the music, the background information, and the outro. I was able to send my first draft of my podcast to Mr. Moulthrop and receive feedback, so I can fix everything that needs to be fixed and then finish my first podcast up. Today, I researched Jaime Irick, who I am interviewing tomorrow, and created questions for him. I then found some new people and their contacts, so I could reach out to them. I tried reaching out to about ten new people. I was also able to narrow down my choices for the name. Today I listened to part of a podcast with Jim Collins, who talked about if it was possible to teach leadership, which had a lot of relevance to my podcast, and it was very interesting. I now need to start thinking about a graphic for my cover. There are so many...
